Park Avenue Armory, booth 328
I am delighted to announce that the Thomsen Gallery has once again been selected for the TEFAF New York fall show, which opens this coming week at the Park Avenue Armory.
To mark this special event, our stand No. 328 will be anchored by a striking pair of 18th century Japanese folding screens. Displayed together the pair presents a magnificent 24-foot wide composition of cranes by a stream, painted in ink and mineral colors against a glittering gold-leaf background.
Also on view will be a group of jars from some of the most revered centers of medieval ceramic production, their rugged forms and textures forming a striking contrast with a display of refined, polished gold-lacquer boxes from the 18th to the 20th centuries. In addition, we will feature a selection of baskets by Japanese masters of the early 20th century who broke free of convention to turn bamboo art into a uniquely Japanese mode of poetic visual expression.
TEFAF New York will run from Friday November 1 to Tuesday November 5, and we look forward to welcoming you to our booth!
