Iizuka Hōchiku (1883-) was the son of Iizuka Hōsai I and the elder brother of Iizuka Rōkansai. He made this basket in a clear late Hōsai II/mid-career Rōkansai style. The basket is signed Hōchiku saku (Made by Hōchiku) and the original paulownia-wood tomobako storage box is inscribed Mei Chikurin hanakago (Flower Basket Named "Bamboo Grove"), signed and dated Kinoto-i Hōchiku saku (Made by Hōchiku in the kinoto-i year [1935]) and sealed Hōchiku.
