Exhibited at the 37th Nihon Dento Kogei Ten (Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition), 2019-2020
Born in Nagano Prefecture, Takashi Tomono studied lacquer art at the Ishikawa Prefectural Wajima Institute of Lacquer Arts and trained under Living National Treasure Komori Kunie. A full member of the Japan Kōgei Association, Tomono has received numerous awards, including the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Award—the highest honor at the Japan Traditional Lacquer Art Exhibition. His work is distinguished by the lustrous texture of lacquer and the striking contrast of red and black.
